Too tired to wash, brush and moisturize? Here’s a bedside beauty kit to the rescue. Here’s the button
Green against green is difficult to photograph for me. I bent a bit to take this photo so the subject matter wouldn’t be totally lost in the green of the grass only to find the green of the pond providing the backdrop. What you are supposed to see here is one of the two dozen buttonbushes I planted here and there at Roundrock this past spring. This one is, of course, on the shore of the pond, and you can see that it is doing wonderfully. The wet spring has kept the pond level up, so this water-loving plant has kept its feet wet during its first critical growing season. Also, the soil around the pond is on the edge of the pine plantation, which is about the only really good soil I have at Roundrock. Those factors would explain why this plant (and one nearby) is doing so well. Except that the buttonbush I have planted below the dam of the lake are also doing well. The soil there is not very deep, but the water supply is continuous, so I think those buttonbush are off to a good start as well. (I didn’t look closely to see if the roaming cattle had stomped some of them to the ground though.) The great heat of the summer has already arrived. My hope is that these plants, as well as the pines Seth and I planted, will have gotten themselves sufficiently established to survive until the respite of the fall. Most of us would never know that the 1957 launch of Sputnik would lead us to the Internet. It was the fear of the Soviets that led Dwight D. Eisenhower to develop ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) which would assemble some of the greatest minds in the United States and eventually create the first internet. The first project was to put the first US Satellite into orbit and they accomplished the task in just 18 months. Afterwards, ARPA turned its attention to the need for improved military communications in 1962, with a focus on computer networking. By 1968, ARPA brought a lot of its research contracts to the university level, pulling them from the private sector. (via Grow-A-Brain) By: Gerard Source Eating red MEat leads to Cancer
